Eleven Plastic Business Card Designs
Many people prefer to print plastic business cards because they are thicker, heavier and glossier than regular paper cards. Plastic cards draw the eye immediately and are very memorable.
When designing a plastic business card, there are a couple important decisions you will need to make:
1. Shape
One of the top priorities is choosing rounded or square edges. As you'll see in the gallery of plastic business cards below, the shape of the card's edges can make a dramatic difference in the look and feel of the card.
2. Color
Another important consideration to make when designing a plastic business card, is whether to use full color or keep the cards simple in muted tones, or black and white. Many of the strongest plastic card designs are black and white, or black and white plus a third accent color.
There are a lot of exceptional full color plastic cards, but due to the shiny plastic and heavier material, I find that it is harder to pull-off a colorful design on plastic than on paper.
3. Playful or Serious
A final consideration to make when designing plastic business cards is whether you want the card to be humorous and playful or serious. Designers may draw attention to the fact that the card is plastic by mimicking a credit card design or using a transparent design to create a playful trick of the eye. These playful designs are wonderful, just be sure the humor is in line with your industry and profession.
