How to Create a Business Card with Corel Photo-Paint
Photo-Paint is the raster image designer and editor created by the Canadian company of Corel Corporation. It is the equivalent of Photoshop from Adobe. Photo-Paint, together with Corel Draw, Trace, Connect and Capture is a component of the Corel Graphics Suite.
Corel Photo-Paint has a huge capacity to create effects for your raster graphics. The effects applied to the Business Card below were all done with Photo-Paint.

Steps for Designing a Business Card in Corel Photo-Paint
- Step 1 - Create a New Image.
- Step 2 - Import a Graphic Background.
- Step 3 - Import your prepared Logo.
- Step 4 - Import and place your Graphics.
- Step 5 - Import and Position all Type or Text.
- Step 6 - Save a Copy in PDF for the printer.
- Step 7 - Upload to our design suite for printing/delivery.
Step 1 - Create the Image
Create a new Image. On the File Menu – New. On the New Image Panel:
- Name - Business Card
- Width – 3.5 in
- Height – 2.0 in
- Resolution – 360 dpi
- Background – Black
- Color Mode – CMYK
- Click – OK

On the View Menu – Check Rulers and Guidelines. Press Left Mouse Button then Drag Guidelines from the Rulers to create Margins.

Step 2 - Import Background
Add Background Texture. On the File Menu – click Import. On the Import Image Panel – click Image – Then click Import (You can download and import our example Aqua graphic by right clicking and saving this link).

Blend the image into your background. On the Object Panel – Select Color Mode.

Step 3 - Import Logo
Import your Logo. On the File Menu – click Import. Select Image from the Import Panel – Click Import (You can download and import our example logo by right clicking and saving this link).

Position Logo using the left mouse button to drag the image.

Step 4 - Import Graphics
Import Image to enhance your Business Card. On the File Menu – click Import. Select Image from the Import Panel. Click – Import. You can download our example fish graphic by right clicking and saving this link.

Position and Resize image using the image handles.

Step 5 - Import Text
Import your Type. On the File Menu – Import. On the Import Image Panel – Navigate to your Image – click Import. You can download our example text by downloading and unzipping this link.

Position your Type/Text on the Business Card Design. Save.

Step 6 - Save for Printing
Save a copy in PDF format for the printer. On the File Menu – Publish to PDF. On the Publish to PDF panel – Settings.

PDF Settings:
- Color – CMYK
- Bitmap Downsampling – 360 ppi
- Bleed Limits - .125 in

Step 7 - Upload for Printing
